Fourteenth IAERE Annual Conference
February 12-13, 2026
Welcome!
Dear,
IAERE is glad to announce its Fourteenth Annual Conference, which will be hosted by the Department of Economics and Management (DEM) and the School of International Studies (SIS) of the University of Trento, on February 12-13, 2026.
The conference will feature two distinguished keynote speakers: Antoine Dechezleprêtre (OECD) and Namrata Kala (MIT Sloan). In addition to the plenary sessions, the programme will include a wide range of parallel sessions covering frontier research and policy-relevant topics in the field of environmental and resource economics

IAERE Young Environmental Economist Award
During the Conference, the Association will also award the IAERE Young Environmental Economist Award, a recognition given to the two best papers presented by young economists at the 2026 annual conference.
The Award aims to recognise innovative contributions to key environmental and resource economics issues at national, European, or global level. Both theoretical and empirical papers are welcome, with no restriction on topics. Eligible candidates must be under 33 years of age. If holding a PhD, no more than five years must have passed since their defence. Only full paper submissions are eligible; extended abstracts will not be considered. Priority will be given to single-authored papers or those co-authored exclusively by eligible candidates. Two prizes of € 1.000,00 each will be awarded to the presenters of the best papers. The Selection Committee, co-chaired by the IAERE President and the Chairs of the Conference Programme Committee, includes members of both the Programme Committee and the IAERE Council.
Call for extended abstract/full paper
As in previous editions, the 2026 IAERE Conference welcomes both theoretical and applied research, with particular attention to policy relevance. Presentations will be held in English. Young researchers and PhD students are especially encouraged to participate.
Submissions should be unpublished work in progress at a reasonably advanced stage. Only .pdf files in English will be accepted. All submissions will undergo peer review. Each author may submit up to two co-authored extended abstracts (around 1000-1500 words) or full papers, or one single-authored extended abstract/paper, but can present only one paper at the conference.
The deadline for submission is 13 October, 2025.

PARTECIPATION IN THE CONFERENCE IS RESERVED FOR IAERE MEMBERS
Those who are not yet Members (or have to renew their Membership), must apply for Membership and send a copy of the bank transfer made to paola@geniusec.it before registering for the Conference
Important notice – Accommodation

Some events of the 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in nearby Trentino valleys, which may affect hotel availability in the city of Trento. We therefore strongly encourage participants to book their accommodation as early as possible, even before receiving notification of paper acceptance, ideally selecting options with free cancellation.
For your convenience, a selection of hotels has agreed to reserve a limited number of rooms at special rates with free cancellation, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms can be booked either through the conference registration system or by contacting the hotels directly, indicating that the reservation is for the IAERE event organised by the University of Trento
